Attica Independent Fair, August 11-15, 2020

July 28, 2020

Over the past 6 months, the Attica Fair has had many concerns and meetings to discuss the outcome of the 2020 Attica Fair.  On July 23rd, the Board decided to continue on course, as planned, with just a Jr. Fair event.  This means NO Senior Fair events such as grandstand shows except harness racing in limited capacity, no Senior Fair open class exhibits, no merchants – inside or outside, no rides, no Senior Citizen’s Day or Veteran’s Day. The Jr. Fair still projects will be judged and sent home, so no booths will be set up. The livestock will be brought in on Tuesday evening.  The poultry will show and be released for market on Wednesday.  The rabbits will show and be released for market on Friday. The rest of the animals, such as the steers, feeders, sheep, hogs and goats, will fill in with shows the rest of the week and get released on Sunday. We will have a few food vendors, but not as many as usual.  All of this is due to Governor DeWine’s and our Seneca County Health Board’s recommendations.

With all the rules and regulations that have been put in place, we ask you, as Attica Fair supporters, for a couple of things; If you feel uncomfortable, refuse to wear a mask, refuse to social distance or if for no other reason, are coming to the Fair just to say you were there, please stay home.  This is something we have never asked you to do and hope we never have to ask again, but for 2020 this is a request.  If you feel you must come to the fair to support your children or grandchildren with their Fair projects, a mask is MANDATORY and wearing of them at all times will be asked and enforced to the best of our abilities. Social distancing and hand wash stations must be utilized. We, as a Fairboard, Sale Committee and Jr. Fair, are doing our best to have a Fair for the kids to help complete their projects that they have been working on this past year and for some even longer.  To accomplish this, we need everybody’s help to follow the guidelines that have been put in place. This is a situation we hope we will never experience again.  It is a financial, emotional and stressful situation for all of us and we hope you understand what we are going through as a board.

If you would like to support the Fair, we are still selling membership tickets.  These are still required to be a voting member.  If you want to make a contribution to our Fair, please get in touch with us and we would be glad to talk to you.  If you would like to help out our sale for the kids, feel free to join our livestock sale with a mask on, on Saturday of the Fair or contact us and we can see that your contributions to them will be spent.

We, as a Board, apologize for any inconvenience this has caused, but we feel it is the best for our community. Our community has been very supportive of our Fair and its many activities, and we certainly hope that it continues. We are very proud of our Fair and only have our community to thank for it.  We hope to be back to some type of normality soon. God bless all of you, be safe and stay healthy!!!

——– July 24, 2020 Update ——–

At a special meeting Thursday evening, the Fair Board voted to move forward with the 2020 Attica Junior Fair. As a precaution, we are no longer going to have Midway entertainment or booth/project displays. The only vehicles allowed on the grounds will require a parking pass or Handicap permit. Everyone who attends the fair will be required to sign a COVID-19 Waiver Form and wear a face mask. We want to provide a great experience for the kids while keeping everyone safe and healthy. Thank you for your continued support!

——– June 11, 2020 Announcement ——–

To All our Loyal Attica Fair Goers:

After much deliberation and tribulation, it is with much regret that we the Attica Independent Fair has cancelled all Senior Fair events at the 2020 Attica Fair. This includes all Open Class Displays, Merchants, Grandstand Shows, Midway Shows, etc. We are having a Jr. Fair program, Queen’s Contest as well as Harness Racing and Election of Board of Directors.

We have a long and unfamiliar road ahead of us, as this has never been done before in most of our lifetimes, but we will get through it. We apologize for any inconvenience this decision has caused. Your safety is the number one concern. Also the financial burden in having limited show attendance and fair goers has influenced our decisions.

The gates will be Free, but we will sell Memberships for all voter aged Seneca County residents, who wish to support the Attica Fair and vote for Directors of the Attica Fair Association.

We urge all people who will be attending to continue with social distancing, hand washing, hand sanitizing and wearing of masks for your own protection as well as those around you.

We hope you will continue to support the Attica Fair as so many of you have done in the past and are currently doing. We are putting every effort forward to help our kids have a Jr. Fair program. We thank you for your support in this time of distress and keep praying for an end to this problem soon.

If you have any questions or concerns, please check the Facebook page or the website for continued information or talk to any of our fairboard members, as these are the ones serving you as your elected representatives, or feel free to call me.
